I travel

when talking about vacations, destinations are important, but only because of the following:
1. request for leave from office
2. tell relatives or friends where you are going
3. a high level approach to plan for the trip
4. budget expenses

however, when I plan vacations, two things are very important to me:
1. the destination should be as far as possible
2. the journey should be a sizable component and as much as possible, should include a self-driven component

the quotation that comes to mind and fits my trips is:
“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”
the activity of being in the journey is anytime more exciting to me than the thought of spending a considerable time at any single place. driving, without the thought of reaching somewhere within time limits, to me is the ultimate form of relaxation.
